MY HAIR TYPE

4C - Coily Ziggly℠

Type 4c hair is composed of curl patterns that will almost never clump without doing a specific hair style. It can range from fine/thin/super soft to wiry/coarse with lots of densely packed strands. 4c hair has been described as a more "challenging" version of 4b hair. Some say 4c looks identical to 4b except that the curls are so tightly kinked, there is seemingly no definition. 4c hair can shrink more than 75%.
4c celebrites include: Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and Aevin Dugas.

Quick Tips

EYESHADOW TO COLOR HAIR

How to Use Eyeshadow

Evelyn colored her coils using cream eyeshadow, after seeing Nikki sporting blue coils on CurlyNikki and sweet purple highlights on Fro Envy. She used Maybelline’s Color Tattoo 24 Hr Cream Gel Shadow in Tenacious Teal.
For a subtle pop of color you can highlight strands throughout your hair, or for more in-your-face vibrant color, you can apply this to a whole section (as pictured). You don’t need to layer the eyeshadow, the color was vibrant with just one application!

  • Step 1. Select the section of hair you’d like to color. Evelyn recommends starting with dry hair. You may want to clip the rest of the hair back that you are not coloring.
  • Step 2. Using your fingertips, emulsify the cream eyeshadow between your fingers, this will ensure the product is smooth and easier to apply (without chunks).
  • Step 3. Apply cream eyeshadow to the section of hair with your fingertips, smooth it through your hair like you would a styling product.
  • Step 4. Be sure to work the eyeshadow into your roots as well.
  • Step 5. When you’re ready to wash the color out, use your normal method to wash your hair (whether that’s conditioner or shampoo, it washes right out).

http://strawberricurls.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/black-woman-long-hair.jpgEvery woman desires to have locks like those of Rapunzel – lovely, long and healthy.  Although till date there is no scientific method to accelerate the growth of your hair but you can definitely stimulate the growth of your hair. Proper care, looking after and not subjecting your hair to sever damage will surely assist in growing your hair longer and healthier.
Here we encapsulate some best practices you must follow to grow long natural hair:
  1.  Regular trimming: You must get your hair trimmed at regular intervals. Leaving them neglect without getting them trimmed is a big no if you want to grow long natural hair. After a point of time if you are not getting your hair trimmed they tend to have split ends. These split ends restrict the growth of the hair and also damage your hair structure.

  2. Moisture retention:  Daily exposure to heat, ultra violet rays and pollution causes the hair to loose its natural moisture and become dry. Dry and damaged hair will never gain length. A hot oil massage is the best solution to prevent and control the same. Use any natural oil, warm it a little and use a swap of cotton to dab it on the scalp. Apply the excess oil to the extended hair and gently massage your scalp with the help of your finger tips in a circular motion. After the massage use a hot towel to wrap around your head for a while. Rinse off your hair using a mild shampoo.

  3. Braids or twists: You have to practically live in braids, buns and twisted hair till you get that desired length. When you leave your locks open you are inviting trouble from – pollution, ultra violet rays, entangling and many more damages. Twisting and braiding protects the hair from these dangers and keeps your locks safe.

  4. Dietary improvements: The junk has to be done away with instantly. Junk food leads the body to loose nourishment and in turn you loose your hair. Your diet must comprise of healthy food. Crash diets too need to be avoided; they again deprive you from important nutrients. The food you eat must include good amount of protein and vitamins which accelerate the growth of your hair.

  5. Hair products: While you are looking to grow your hair you have to very minutely scrutinize the hair products you use. Stay away from chemically loaded products that can cause harm and shift to milder conditioners, shampoos and masks. You can also ask your stylist to help you choose these.
Other useful tips: You should never twirl your hair ends with your finger while concentrating or nervous. They lead to split ends. The daily dose of ironing, curlers and other chemicals or styling has to be avoided completely. When your hair is entangled a little more than usual, use your fingers to detangle them to avoid breakage.  Minimize manipulating your hair during the growth period or use styles that last for a considerable period of time say a fortnight or may be more.

We recommend you follow this routine and you will notice a considerable change in the length of your hair.

TEA TREE OIL

Uses of tea tree oil

A renewed interest in natural substances has increased the availability of tea tree oil as a home remedy, and has also inspired research into its composition and beneficial properties.  While it should never be taken internally due to potential toxicity, it is fantastic for topical treatment at home of
  • dandruff
  • hair growth
  • acne
  • ingrown hair
  • superficial wounds
  • bug bites
  • thrush
  • athlete’s foot
  • fever blisters
Tea tree oil also acts as an anti-oxidant. It has been established in several preliminary studies that MRSA (methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is susceptible to topically-applied tea tree oil. Additionally, it is being studied for its potential use a treatment in some forms of cancer. While those are all rather lofty applications for tea tree oil, it also has benefits for personal care and cosmetic use.

Properties

  • antibacterial
  • antifungal
  • antiviral
  • anti-inflammatory
  • antiprotozoal
  • antioxidant

For your scalp

The antibacterial properties of tea tree oil enable it to be very effective in the treatment of acne, with fewer undesirable side effects than benzoyl peroxide.  This is excellent news for those who suffer from this problem on their body, face, or scalp.  It can also be used to treat areas of ingrown hairs or infected follicles caused by shaving.  As an antifungal agent, a shampoo or scalp massage oil that contains tea tree oil helps get rid of dandruff and cradle cap.  Tea tree oil is an effective solvent for sebum and other dirt or oily buildup on the scalp and hair, so it can be used to help provide a clear, clean surface that can absorb moisture and conditioning products more readily.  Additionally, scalp massage with tea tree oil can help stimulate blood flow and reduce inflammation in the follicular cells, which may help enhance hair growth. It is very important to dissolve tea tree oil into another oil medium prior to applying it to the skin and hair though, as it can be very irritating and drying when used in its undiluted form.

For your hair

Based upon its properties, tea tree oil is a viable solution for those with dandruff, itchy scalp, and problems with sebum buildup.  Preparing a solution that is no more than 5% by weight of tea tree oil and massaging it into the scalp and hair may provide excellent benefits.  It can be dissolved into a conditioner, shampoo, or a carrier oil such as olive oil, coconut oil, or jojoba oil.  While there is no definitive proof that it helps stimulate hair growth, it does seem likely to provide the optimal environment for scalp and follicular health, when applied occasionally in the proper concentration.  Remember that it is an effective solvent of oil, which means it can be stripping and drying if used too often or in too strong of a solution.  (Never use it straight!)  Using it as an occasional clarifying agent for hair that is predominantly conditioner washed or that may have buildup of styling product on it is may also provide some benefit and make it easier to rehydrate and condition your hair.  So use sparingly, and to good effect!
